Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Description: The Veterans Affairs Medical Center has a need for CERAMICS ASSISTANT volunteers

Duties would include:
• Assist veteran patients with ceramic projects
• Help therapist with ceramic supply inventory
• Paint fine details on ceramic projects for veteran patients
• Socialize with veterans

Schedule / Time: M-F 9:00-11:30am, 1:30-3:30

Qualifications:
• Minimum age : 14
• Pleasant and cheerful personality
• Neat and clean appearance
• Able to report on time and stay in allotted time frame, Dependable
• Willing to accept and follow directions
• Ability to work with veterans with a variety of disabilities
• Have a mature and caring attitude
• Skills in ceramics or related materials helpful but not necessary
• Fine motor skills for painting eyes and other details

• New Volunteer Orientation
• Tuberculosis Testing
• Fingerprinting
• Background Checks.
Note: All requirement costs are paid for by the facility.
Must be able to work with veterans with a variety of illnesses including psychiatric issues.

Directions:

The main entrance to the VA Medical Center is located on Gage Blvd one block South of 21st & Gage. The volunteer office is located on the east side of the facility and can be reached by taking the perimeter road. When you see the gazebo, you are close to Building 24. Look for the green awning over the east door. Voluntary Service is located inside that door.
