Description: The Veterans Affairs Medical Center has a need for CLERICAL SUPPORT volunteers Duties would include: • Greet veterans coming into office • Answer telephone / take messages / transfer call • General clerical duties • Filling, making copies, collating, etc (non-sensitive information) • Run errands within the medical center • Make coffee • Clean kitchen • Set up and take down for special recreational actives Schedule / Time: N & W 8:00-10:30am Qualifications: • Minimum age : 14 • Pleasant and cheerful personality • Neat and clean appearance • Able to report on time and stay in allotted time frame, Dependable • Willing to accept and follow directions • Able to work with little supervision • Able to interact with others • Ability to work with veterans with a variety of disabilities • Lifting, stooping, bending, pulling, walking • Able to read and write clearly • Abide by policy on use of government equipment • Must be able to alphabetize / place files in numerical order Type: Ongoing Opportunity
Requirements: Volunteer must attend and clear: • New Volunteer Orientation • Tuberculosis Testing • Fingerprinting • Background Checks. Note: All requirement costs are paid for by the facility. Must be able to work with veterans with a variety of illnesses including psychiatric issues.

The main entrance to the VA Medical Center is located on Gage Blvd one block South of 21st & Gage. The volunteer office is located on the east side of the facility and can be reached by taking the perimeter road. When you see the gazebo, you are close to Building 24. Look for the green awning over the east door. Voluntary Service is located inside that door. Once inside, take the hallway to your left; we are room A120.
