Affordable Housing Alliance
The Alliance mission is to improve the quality of life for all NJ Residents by developing and preserving affordable housing, by providing housing education, and by helping communities meet their legal and moral housing obligations.
Description:
The Alliance helps people secure quality affordable housing and to keep the housing they have. We maintain a portfolio of 360 rental units and build or renovate 2 to 10 single family homes a year. We also help other nonprofit service agencies develop housing for special needs populations. The Alliance provides consultation and certification to local municipalities in the administration of their affordable housing obligation. The Alliance staff also include several counselors that provide group and individual counseling in the areas of loss mitigation, pre-purchase education, post purchase management, tenancy training, and other related housing issues.
History:
The Alliance was incorporated in March 1991 with a $25,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson foundation. We have acquired, constructed or rehabilitated over 400 housing units since then bringing nearly 25 million dollars in state, federal and local subsidies in to help provide housing options to residents of Monmouth and Ocean County. We have a full service housing counseling department and provide administrative agency services to local governments and private builders. "We help with housing"
