Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Marcos cannot come to class because he works 6 days a week and there are no classes on his day off. Rong sits alone at home because she is afraid to navigate in the community. She speaks and understands no English. Martha lives in women's shelter with her 3 children (all under the age of 4). She speaks no English, has no resources, and is not in a position to work a paying job. Vlad is college educated, a high-achiever, and eager to establish his household here in the US. He speaks, understands, reads, and writes English but not quite well enough to secure a job in his chosen profession. These adults and many like them come to the Jointure for help improving their ability to communicate in English. Family obligations, transportation, multiple jobs with long hours, fear--all prevent them from attending our regular classes. Volunteer to tutor a small group or one-on-one. Help these individuals and their families find their place at home, at work, and in their communities.
Good command of North American English is the best model for our learners. The best tutor is caring, creative, and flexible. Training is customized to each tutor/student team. There are opportunities to learn from our classroom instructors and from our program coordinator. This opportunity is sponsored by: Jointure for Community Adult Education, Inc
