Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One, Inc. seeks to provide compasionate and caring guardianship services to our most vulnerable citizens. We believe that every person is entitled to live with dignity and humanity and we ensure that our wards receive that even when they are no longer able to provide that for themselves.

Description:
Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One is the only non-profit agency within the State of New Jersey, and one of only several within the entire country to recruit, train, support and monitor individuals who wish to serve as court appointed guardians. Such persons are needed in cases when a person with diminished capacity has no available family members or friends to serve as a surrogate decision maker. As such, the agency plays a vital role in the lives of those who are most vulnerable, and who would otherwise have no voice.

History:
Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One was started in 1997 as the vision of a local private attorney, Anthony Serra, and the Hunterdon County Surrogate, Susan Hoffman. Community attorneys, medical personnel, social services professionals and others interested in the welfare of Hunterdon County citizens have been recruited to serve as members of the governing board.

The Board of Directors employs a part-time Executive Director and a part-time Coordinator of Training and Volunteers.
