The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.

Description:
The mission and purpose of the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge is to provide a temporary home-like residence without charge to the cancer patient. Hope Lodge facilitates the cancer treatment process by providing an emotionally supportive environment, while reducing the financial burden of necessary multiple night stays.

History:
The Russell & Ann Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge took its first guests October 1, 2008. There are 28 Hope Lodges in the United States. We are one of four Hope Lodges in the Mid West.
