Nonprofit Board Leadership Training
RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jun 21, 2005 to Jul 15, 2005

The United Way of Johnson County, the Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center, and the Chamber of Commerce's Community Leadership Program (CLP)have developed a partnership to create a new resource for training and matching leaders with opportunities to serve on nonprofit boards of directors. As part of the new Board Bank effort, Jude P. West, Ph.D., will be the instructor and facilitator for the Board Bank training. Dr. West, Professor Emeritus, Department of Management and Organizations, Henry B. Tippie College of Business, has consulted with businesses and nonprofit organizations of all sizes. He offers both new and very experienced board members great insight into best practices related to roles, responsibilities and functions of success board members, and how best to contribute to the boards on which you serve.

Individuals who participate in training will be able to register for the Board Bank, which is a database of community volunteers interested in serving on nonprofit boards. Initially, the Board Bank will be available to United Way of Johnson County affiliated agencies, but the partnership is working to expand this effort to include other Johnson County nonprofit organizations within the next two years.

To register, click on the Board Bank link.
