Burke-Gilman PDA

Agency Details:

Burke-Gilman PDA

The Burke Gilman Place PDA (BGPDA) manages the former Coast Guard property in northeast Seattle, near Children’s Hospital. At present, facilities include Ronald McDonald House (two facilities), Provail (formerly United Cerebral Palsy) housing, Burke-Gilman Apartments (subsidized and market-rate housing), The Children’s Center (a child care center), and housing under the auspices of the Capitol Hill Housing Improvement Program (CHHIP).

Description:
The BG-PDA is a quasi-public entity comprised of nine Board Members appointed by the Mayor of Seattle. The With the completion of the final buildable parcel (The Children’s Center and CHHIP housing), the PDA has been working primarily on maintenance issues. A primary concern is the “look” of the PDA land and facility, with special attention to landscaping, proposed alterations to facilities, and signage. The PDA has also taken an active role in monitoring developments in Burke Gilman Park.

There are nine Board positions, of which four are drawn from the user facilities and the other five are at-large. A quorum of five members is required for the Board to meet. All positions are Mayoral appointments with confirmation by the City Council. Board meetings are held monthly, on the second Wednesday of the month, from 8 a.m. to about 9:00 a.m.
