Agency Details:
CCRADV - Domestic Violence Unit
CCRADV coordinates community services against domestic violence through awareness, education, prevention, batterer treatment, accountability and victim services. Our mission is to serve victims of domestic violence and their children by providing immediate financial assistance to aid in emergencies and to empower them to be able to live in safety.
Description:
Our non-profit organization established the Domestic Violence Victim Impact Panels (located in Auburn and Federal Way) The DV-VIP is where survivors of domestic violence come and tell their stories about family members, including children, who have been killed because of domestic violence. All proceeds collected from the DV-VIP go directly to victim services. In 2008, approximately $38,755.16 was distributed. We are proud of our distinguished reputation for providing a service that provides survivors of domestic violence with money to assist in paying for rent, gas, electricity, food, airplane tickets to flee from their abusers, as well as assisting in motel vouchers for those who are escaping a life of violence.
History:
In 2002 a group of concerned citizens from the communities of Auburn, Federal Way, Fife and Tacoma formed the CCRADV. Their mission was to develop an organization that could provide immediate relief to people who are survivors of domestic violence. In 2002, the CCRADV was created with three volunteers board members. Over the years the organization expanded and by 2009, there are currently eight members. The organization's services have also expanded to now include contributions to Ft. Lewis, Auburn, Kent, Des Moines, Federal Way, Seatac, Tacoma and other surrounding areas.
