ARC is a 10 year old mixed repertory contemporary ballet company in Seattle, WA. ARC presents a rich palette of works by emerging and recognized choreographers in a wide range of dance styles. Maria Chong is the Artistic Director. Through her vision and efforts ARC continues to grow in stature and respect within the Seattle dance community. ARC's defining differences would include professional production values, technically strong and versatile dancers, and an eclectic repertoire of dance works that explore and promote dance as communication that transcends spoken language. History:
Marie Chong, Artistic Director, founded ARC in 1999. Since then ARC has consistently presented a two-production repertoire season, and beginning in 2001, added the Nutcracker. ARC has performed at Shorecrest Performing Arts Center, the Broadway Performance Hall and now makes its performance home at the at the Seattle Repertory Theater. Beginning with our 11th season in July, ARC moves to a three-production repertoire season plus the Nutcracker. In 2001, ARC began a relationship with the Seattle Symphony by performing at Benaroya Hall in outreach programs such as Discover Music.In 2004, ARC secured permanent rehearsal space in the old Crown Hill School, which also allowed for an associated school to be established (ARC School of Ballet).
