Citizens for a Community Center at M.L. King is a group of citizens from the Central Area community and Madison Valley neighborhood working together to establish a community center at M. L. King Jr. Elementary School, to serve youth, families and life-long learners. The center will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by promoting interaction, growth and exchange between people of diverse ages, socio-economic backgrounds and cultures. Our ultimate goal is to keep public property for public use.

History:
When Seattle Public School closed Martin Luther King Elementary School Community members came together to form Citizens for a Community Center at Martin Luther King Jr. to re-open the school as a Community Center. Citizens for a Community Center at Martin Luther King Jr. is a neighborhood group working to create a dynamic, independent, self-sustaining community center at the former M. L. King Jr. elementary school in the Madison Valley neighborhood of Seattle.
