Save Habitat And Diversity Of Wetlands (SHADOW) is dedicated to the preservation of environmentally sensitive wetlands and forest through land acquisition, education, restoration and outreach.
Description:
SHADOW's current projects include: tree planting, invasive species removal, bridge replacement, forestry education, trail development and maintenance, and land acquisition.
History:
SHADOW was founded in 2000 as a grassroots effort to save rare peat bog habitat along Shadow Lake in Renton, WA. Founding members included members from the forestry/science community, local government agencies, non-profit and local resident community. Up to date, SHADOW has preserved over 90 acres of valuable wetland and forest habitat, and has collaborated with the Tahoma School District to support environmental education initiatives.
