Crooked Trails
Crooked Trails is a non-profit, community-based travel organization helping people broaden their understanding of the planet and its diverse cultures through education, community development and responsible travel
Description:
We work in conjunction with indigenous people around the world facilitating cultural exchanges that allow visitors and hosts opportunities to share in each other's lives. During our exchanges, we enter our host's community with openness and respect and with a willingness to ask questions, to listen and to offer friendship. By listening to their stories and partaking in their daily lives and activities we honor their knowledge of place, and of a life well lived. AT home Crooked Trails educated locals with slide show events and talks.
History:
Purpose: Crooked Trails, a nonprofit community-based travel organization, was developed in 1997 to create more environmentally and culturally sensitive travel in areas where the negative impacts of tourism were threatening the cultures and environments of popular tourist destinations or fragile regions.
