The mission of Eastside Audubon is to protect, preserve and enhance natural ecosystems and our communities for the benefit of birds, other wildlife and people.

Description:
Eastside Audubon connects people with nature through bird and plant walks, conservation activities and a wide variety of classes for both children and adults. Volunteers work to protect wildlife and their habitats through our Conservation Committee. Our Education Committee teaches children and adults about birds and wildlife and their value in our community. Our members enjoy studying our local flora and fauna through monthly programs and weekly field trips.

We are a dynamic group of individuals motivated by the need to protect our natural world with particular emphasis on environmental conservation and education.

We ask that volunteers willingly actively participate in Chapter activities and to act as Eastside Audubon ambassadors.

History:
Established in 1980 as a Chapter of National Audubon, Eastside Audubon has grown to 1,000+ strong and serves the urban and rural communities east of Seattle.

Currently we offer nine program meetings a year, field trips nearly every week, and school programs to over 600 children per year. In 2008 we sent 8 low-income children to summer camp and awarded a $500 scholarship to a college-level student studying environmental science.

Our volunteers logged in just 7,000 hours for 2008.
