Habitat for Humanity East King County
Logo

To empower families, build community, and create hope through an aggressive home-building ministry.

Description:
Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976. A worldwide grassroots movement, Habitat has built 300,000 houses. Habitat International is headquartered in Georgia, with 1,600 U.S. and 431 international affiliates.
We are one of 35 Habitat affiliates in Washington State. Our affiliate, East King County, was founded in 1988 by Carnation residents Bob and Shirley Patterson. Over the past 20 years, we have built 98 homes in Bellevue, Carnation, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, Newcastle, Sammamish and Snoqualmie, serving 96 families and housing 216 children. Each year, we contribute 10 percent of our funds to support Habitat’s home-building work in other nations.
Our service area is from Renton to Bothell and Woodinville, and east of Seattle including Mercer Island to North Bend. The goal of this Habitat EKC is to make it possible for low-income Eastside residents to be able to purchase simple, decent, affordable homes.

Habitat EKC hopes to lay a foundation for a stronger community by working with people who are dedicated to building a better life for themselves. To achieve this goal, we depend on donated land, labor, money, and materials from individuals, faith communities, and local businesses.

History:
Since it's founding by Bob and Shirley Patterson in 1988, this affiliate has built 86 homes in the cities of Carnation, Sammamish, Issaquah, Bellevue, Kirkland, Newcastle, Redmond and Snoqualmie. Our service area is from Issaquah to Bothell and East to North Bend. The goal of this affiliate is to make it possible for low-income Eastside residents to be able to purchase simple decent affordable homes. We are currently building homes in the Issaquah Highlands and Snoqualmie.
