Parkview Services
The mission of Parkview Services is to provide innovative, quality services to people with developmental disabilities and their families by dedicated individuals in a financially sound organization
Description:
Parkview Services is a non-profit organization with services provided throughout King County Washington. Parkview provides affordable housing to over 150 individuals with developmental disabilities in 48 homes throughout King County. Parkview also has a Homeownership Program that assists families and individuals with opportunities and education to foster first time homeownership. Parkview operates a Group Home on Capitol Hill supporting 6 adults with developmental disabilities, and Camp Parkview, offering a one week summer camp on Vashon Island.
History:
First founded in the mid-1960s, Parkview was developed by a group of concerned parents who were seeking a community-based alternative to institutionalization for their children. Parkview Services continues to support individuals in the State's first group home that opened during 1967 in Capitol Hill. Parkview has grown considerably since the 1960s, offering a variety of services to people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the King County area. All services foster a sense of belonging, nurture informed choices, support self-determination, and create an environment of empowerment.
