Agency Details:
Vegetarians of Washington
Our mission is to help improve the health and well-being of people and the world we live in, both by encouraging mainstream Americans to discover the advantages and pleasures of vegetarian food, and by providing support and service to the vegetarian community.
Description:
We host a monthly dining event at the Mount Baker Club in Seattle, and free nutrition and cooking classes throughout the region. We offer members a subscription to the popular magazine, Vegetarian Times, an informative monthly e-newsletter, and a great discount program. We also provide speakers and information to other interested organizations. Our biggest event of the year is Vegfest, a healthy vegetarian food festival, which happens in March of each year. We need hundreds of volunteers to make this event happen.
History:
We are an independent volunteer based non-profit organization. We were formed in July 2001 and have about 1500 members. We have held Vegfest every year since then, and it has grown to be the largest vegetarian food festival in the country.
