The Defender Association

To provide legal representation to low-income individuals that live in King County.

Description:
The Defender Association is seeking volunteers to conduct criminal investigations on behalf of public defender clients. Training and supervision is provided to volunteers. The training takes places quarterly with the next training starting January 5, 2009. Training spans over six business days from 1-5pm. There is a minimum three month twenty hour a week commitment. History:
The Defender Association was started in 1969 as part of the Model Cities Program and has grown to an agency that has 80+ attorneys. The Defender Association represents individuals that have been accused of crimes in King County, in addition to representing individuals in dependency and civil commitments matters.
