Position title: Board Connections Position
Description: While ARC’s board is responsible for the regular operational, policy and revenue management of ARC, it is now also embarking on formulation of its strategic plan and brand strategy for the near future. New members are sought who can bring their particular skills, excitement, and passion to this process. Abilities/experience sought would include any or combination of any of the following:

Business – operational experience balanced with financial/organizational best practices. Management expertise.

Financial – knowledge of basic not-for- profit organizational financial practices. Familiarity and contacts within Seattle’s financial community.

Leadership – possess a visionary style and the ability to “wear several hats.” Willing to work and collaborate with the ability to engender trust and promote communication.

Fundraising and Community Outreach – successful experience in fundraising with a creative “outside the box” approach. Ability to engender funding partnerships with businesses, foundations, and associations. Experience in grant writing/review.

Arts/Dance Passion and Experience – Fluency, passion, and/or experience in the local and/or national world of art/dance/contemporary ballet. Ability to bring this knowledge and connections to bear to benefit ARC’s development.

The process for selecting or nominating members:
  1. Following an initial conversation with the Board President, a job descriptions is sent to the interested party.
  2. A face to face interview takes place with the Board President and the Artistic Director/Executive Director, and possibly another board member depending on the skills of the candidate.
  3. If the candidate wishes to attend a Board Mtg, this is possible.
  4. If all are agreeable, the candidate is nominated to the full Board.
  5. Board appointments can be made any time of the year.

Additional information about this position: While our culture is informal, this fall we launched an effort to mature ARC Dance to the next level. This work requires additional committed board members. We hope to grow the board to 15 members passionate about dance. It is our strong desire that the Board to be representative of our community. Exciting things are happening at ARC! We welcome your interest.
