Position title: Advisory Board Member
Description: Interested individual shall have past or present interest in and knowledge about the problems of substance abuse other than alcoholism.
Type of board position: Advisory Board
The process for selecting or nominating members: The first step is for interested individual to attend three Board meetings prior to submitting a written application. After three meeting attendance, interested individual submits a cover letter, application, resume and references. The application packet is sent to all Board members for review and comments. The Board Chair and Prevention and Treatment Coordinator interview the applicant, check references and vote whether to recommend the individual for full Board vote. Upon approval by the Advisory Board, the nomination is sent to the Department Director for review before forwarding to the King County Executive and 30 days following the Executive Appointment letter, the nominee will have board voting rights. At some point, the nominee will be scheduled to appear before the KC Council for a brief interview and confirmation vote.
