Newsletter Editor/Coordinator

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on June 12, 2009

We finally have launched our quarterly e-newsletter and have the process fairly well worked out, but it's too much work for our marketing lead (who is also a volunteer) to coordinate on her how, while at the same time write much of the content. We are looking for someone who will pick up the existing process (improving it where they see fit), assign specific articles to a staff of volunteers, edit them and do what it takes to electronically publish the quarterly newsletter. The editor would NOT be responsible for writing the whole thing, by ANY means, and will have the close support of the marketing, fundraising and Sr. Management staff.

Today each newsletter has 4-5 articles and has been well received by our supporters.

Court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted.

We are ideally looking for someone with the following experience:

  • Good writing and editing skills
  • Journalism experience
  • Works well with others
  • Strong competency with MS Word, including formatting features. (We are using MS Word to publish the newsletter today, although we are open to changing tools).
  • Very organized
  • Good at meeting deadlines

We'd love it if the candidate has experience with editing organization newsletters or similar publications, but will consider individuals who can demonstrate the other skills and wish to gain experience coordinating an organization newsletter.

The minimum age for this opportunity is 18 years old.
