We Need Mentors! Working as a mentor or tutor

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 3, 2009

Imagine how meaningful a few hours of your week could be to a child or teen affected by the challenges of HIV & AIDS. Our mentor program matches individual adult volunteers with a child or a teen that has HIV or AIDS in their life. This relationship provides healthy, compassionate and consistent interaction with a caring adult. The role of the mentor is to be a loving friend. The schedule is flexible. Make a difference! Become a mentor.

We ask our mentors to be a support person, confidant, and explorer with their match. Mentors spend 4 to 5 hours a week with their young friend doing a variety of activities. The commitment is 4 hours a week for a year with the hope that the relationship will last a lifetime. Applicants must complete a Volunteer Application, be interviewed, pass background checks and attend a two day training.

The minimum age for this opportunity is 18 years old.
