Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on October 28, 2009 |
Reading Buddies are volunteers who want direct interaction with young students. The volunteer is paired with a 2nd or 3rd grader who is struggling with reading. This is a minimum 15 week commitment. The time frame is extremely flexible. The volunteer will choose which day and time of the week works best for them and then commit to that time for the duration of the program. The reading program is clearly outlined and training is available and required prior to starting the session. This is a fun, rewarding way to empower the lives of children! Support is available throughout by both the classroom teacher and the Program Coordinator for Communities in Schools.
A reading buddy can be anyone who is 16 years or older. Can read English at a high school level and can pass a Seattle Public School background check. This opportunity is sponsored by: Communities In Schools Of Seattle
