Cat Adoption Counselor/Cat Room Attendant for Kirkland Petco
Description: Cat Room Cleaners/Socializers: Assist the public with any questions and monitor public visits. Ensure the cleanliness of each cat cage in the adoption room while socializing the cats and providing food and water. Cleaning involves emptying litter pans, wiping down cages with disinfectant, washing feeding bowls and replacing bedding. This job requires some repetitious bending. Volunteers must feel comfortable interacting with the public and be able to professionally represent Purrfect Pals. Duties include: cleaning cages, socializing and comforting the cats; monitoring cat behavior on the daily log. Shifts are two hours long. Volunteers who can commit to one day per week are encouraged to apply. Morning and early afternoon shifts available seven days per week. Adoption Counselors: Help find forever homes for our cats. Assist the public with adoption procedures; process adoptions; socialize and interact with the cats and spot clean as needed. This position requires excellent people skills and is very rewarding. This position has 2-4 hour shifts. Volunteers for this position are needed in the late afternoon/early evening on weekdays and from 12-4PM on weekends. One day per week, or every other week commitment is needed.

Requirements: Requirements: All volunteers are asked to attend a 1-2 hour orientation at the Arlington shelter and receive hands-on training at the Kirkland Petco which can last 1-3 hours depending on the position. The minimum age requirement varies depending the position. A junior volunteer (aged 13 to 15) must volunteer with a parent or guardian, and the guardian must work with the Junior Volunteer at all times. A volunteer must be 18 years old in order to be an adoption counselor.
