Mentor a Bellevue Student Working as a mentor or tutor

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 2, 2009

Impact a student's life in just one hour per week! VIBES (Volunteers in Bellevue's Education System) offers you a unique way to support students. VIBES mentors meet with their students each week during the school day. Mentors develop a friendship with their students, acting as positive role models. They serve as an additional supportive adults, encouraging student success and helping students to make more positive choices. In elementary school, mentors typically do activities with students. Examples include crafts, games, and reading. In middle and high school, mentors talk with their students, listening carefully to their concerns and successes. Some mentors also offer academic support.

Student matches are made based on the interests and skills of each volunteer. Mentors work in the school setting in partnership with school staff. VIBES offers training and resources in relationship-building and communication skills. Many VIBES mentors say their volunteer time is the best hour of their week. Make a difference in the life of a Bellevue student and in your own life by becoming a VIBES mentor!

This opportunity takes place during the school day during the academic year. For more information and a volunteer application, visit our website: www.bsd405.org/vibes.

Interested people must be able to volunteer at least one hour per week for the duration of the school year. Volunteers attend an orientation before working with students in Bellevue School District.
