Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on June 1, 2009 |
Licensed dentists to oversee dental students and other volunteer dentists on outreaches to Uganda in January and June/July, Jamaica in Oct/Nov, and Bolivia in March. Must be able to oversee and enforce safe and sanitary conditions in remote mobile dental clinics. Volunteers may want to travel with a Smile Power team before becoming a lead overseeing dentist. This will allow you to learn our procedures and experience doing dental care in remote areas with mobile equipment. Smile Power's ultimate goal in each area is for independence and sustainability in all people that we serve. We want to train local people to replace what we do, create a sustainable operation so they no longer need us and we move onto a new group who does need us. Travels with Smile Power are definitely life transforming for volunteers - you can't help but feel you have received more than you have given when you see the smiles of the lives you saved and changed forever!
