Do you like to talk with people in a casual environment? Do you feel that having easy access to information on mental health topics may assist individuals in getting the help they might need? If so then being a Resource Volunteer for YSPP is the opportunity for you! You will be staffing resource/health fair booths which allow individuals to approach you in a casual environment to ask questions and gather information for themselves or others. You will have the opportunity to visit libraries, schools, counseling centers and pediatrician offices to distribute brochures developed by WA DOH and YSPP on numerous topics that affect today’s youth: depression, self-harm, suicidal behaviors, and training opportunities. This is a great opportunity to increase the safety net in your community for today’s youth!
• Contact school, organizations, medical & mental health facilities: • Educate about free brochures from WA Department of Health (DOH), s end procedure on how to order • Distribute brochures throughout community • Update Resource Data • Staff information tables at school, community, health and resource fairs • File report with Field Coordinator • Attend volunteer training/meeting on as needed basis (Location Varies for events) • Excellent speaking and writing skills • Ability to work independently; self-starter • Effective problem solving skills • A sense of humor • Ability to respond in a timely and thoughtful way to requests for assistance • Skill in maintaining confidentiality • Comfort speaking on phone • Event Scheduling/Planning • Available computer • Language/Translation (Helpful in some areas)

From I-5 heading north, take the Ravenna Blvd exit (Exit 170) heading toward NE 65th St. Turn slight left onto NE Ravenna Blvd. and travel about a half a mile to 444 NE Ravenna Blvd. We are in an office building on the right side of the street. From I-5 heading south, take Exit 171 toward NE 71st St/ NE 65th St. Stay straight to go onto 6th Ave. NE. Turn right onto NE 71st St. and then left onto NE Ravenna Blvd. Make a u-turn at NE 68TH St. onto NE Ravenna Blvd. and travel about a tenth of a mile to reach 444 NE Ravenna Blvd.
