Organize a toiletry drive for the YWCA Volunteer opportunity relating to Homelessness Basic Needs

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on October 15, 2009

We are currently accepting commitments from Toiletry Drive Organizers for 2009 and early 2010. What does that entail? It’s simple! Serving 200 homeless and low-income women daily, YWCA Angeline’s Center for Homeless Women addresses immediate needs by providing hot showers, nutritious meals, laundry facilities, and a safe place to spend the day. We provide over 15,000 showers annually to homeless women. This means a constant need for toiletry items that can not be met without community involvement.

Choose a month when you or your group could commit to collecting as many toiletry items as possible. You can spread the word, collect all the items, and drop your collection off at YWCA Opportunity Place. In just a few steps, you or your group can improve the quality of life for homeless women by collecting shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body wash on their behalf. Large, bulk sizes are most needed, but we gladly accept hotel sizes.

Please choose a month(s) when you or your group can host or organize a toiletry drive in 2009 or 2010 and contact Hollianne Monson to register your month at the email address below. Any and all individuals or groups are welcome to participate including organizations, businesses, places of worship, or community groups. If your group has a community service aspect and you're seeking projects, a toiletry drive is one of the best ways to give back to the YWCA. We also ask that you or your group has the ability to drop off your collected items at YWCA Opportunity Place, 2024 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121. There are two loading zones available on our block, between Virginia and Lenora. A cart can be borrowed from the front desk at Opportunity Place creating easy transport of the toiletry items from your vehicle to the building.
