Reading & Tutoring Club Mentors Working as a mentor or tutor Working to enhance education

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 24, 2009

Every other Monday night, we have Reading Club in our community room. We have have kids of all ages, as well as English language learning adults come to look at the books, and engage with eachother in a learning environment.

This fall, as the school year begins, we would like to add homework and tutoring assistance for our older youth and adults to accompany reading club. This is a fairly new program (began in late sring 2009), and we have one volunteer that consistently runs the program. All of the children at our program are from low-income families, many of which attend public schools that did not make AYP (adequate yearly progress) for the 2008-2009 school year. We would love additional volunteers to help provide individual attention to our amazing youth!!

The only requirement is that you commit to volunteering for an on-going basis.
