Looking for a way to give back this holiday season? YWCA Angeline’s Enhanced Night Program serves homeless women who are ready to leave the streets and move forward in their lives. With the help of YWCA staff, these women are working to reduce the barriers that have kept them from stable housing. Gift bags can include a variety of useful and fun items to encourage each woman and brighten their holidays. It would be great to get gift bags of $25-30 value. Think about filling a bag if you are planning on taking advantage of the huge sales on Thanksgiving Day weekend! There are currently 35 women in the program. Fill a large, sturdy bag with any of these types of items: □ Gift or phone cards ($5 or $10 to Bartell’s, Walgreens, etc) □ Bus tickets (to help get them to appointments) □ Collapsible umbrellas □ Night eye mask sand ear plugs to make shelter living easier □ Fun pieces of jewelry □ Toiletry items (deodorant, disposable razor, hair products (African American hair products always requested) tissues, chapstick) □ Puzzle books with a pen or pencil(crossword puzzles, Sudoku) □ Daily planners or pocket calendars □ Hot tea, cider, or hot chocolate packets □ Microwaveable popcorn, granola bars, or small bags of snacks □ Your own creative ideas and touches are encouraged! An individual or group can commit to providing gift bags for one or more women. Please contact Hollianne Monson for more information. Any help is appreciated! Happy Holidays!
