Come volunteer for Gethsemane's annual Thanksgiving Day dinner for our low-income/homeless community. Dinner is served at noon, after our Thanksgiving Day service. Volunteers are welcome to attend the worship service as well. Preparation, decorating and set up begins at 8:00 AM Thursday, November 26th, with clean-up ending around 3:00 PM. You are welcome to come for part of the day, or for the entire time. We ask that you let us know what time and how long you are able to volunteer. Please let us know the number of people who will be volunteering with your group. We serve family style, meaning we bring the food to the people, and we usually have 12 tables of 8 set up. We will have people coming for dinner from noon-2:00 PM so, so it is important that we have an idea how many people want to volunteer, and how long you will stay. Again as last year, we are asking people to bring a donation of prepared food to serve. We will need dinner rolls, juice, pre-cooked mashed potatoes, side dishes, such as green beans, yams or any dish you would like to create, and pies and topping. Those who attend the meal are very grateful for the wonderful, personal gifts of food, and it adds to the sense of community all of us need, especially during the holidays. It is not a requirement to bring a food donation to volunteer, but if you can, please let me know what you will being. Cut-off date to request to volunteer is November 18th.
We welcome all ages, but do want you to remember that there will be a lot going on in a small space with hot food everywhere. Sometimes the very young may become restless, but If you think yours will be able to hang in there, then please bring them. We will have a 20 minute training and history of our meal programs at 8:00 AM, so please be at the church at 8:00 AM if you can. This opportunity is sponsored by: Gethsemane Lutheran Church Soup And Movies
