Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on October 5, 2009 |
Volunteers are the backbone of our success. Whether conducting an aerobics conditioning class for youth, helping to prepare a healthy snack, or offering words of encouragement and wisdom, our Youth and Fitness volunteers help the youth in our programs learn to transform their physical pursuits into more self-confidence, self-esteem, and more control over their lives. We are looking for that special person who has the time and energy, as well as computer and coordinating skills and who shares our belief that physical well being is integrally linked to our social and emotional well being. This is a volunteer position that could be done remotely, but may require time on Saturdays. Tasks include fielding incoming volunteers and their skills; assessing their skills and interests and placing them in appropriate positions; working with program staff to implement volunteer orientations; communicating with team of volunteers on a regular basis. Our volunteer program has been developed but needs that special person to implement it.
Since volunteers work directly with youth, all volunteers must undergo a Washington State Patrol background check. No one convicted of a crime against a child will be considered. We are seeking a person who is committed to living a healthy and fit lifestyle. Austin Foundation is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background. The youth we serve are from predominantly low-income households and we embrace diversity.
