The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library patrons check out and returns about 4,000 Talking Books to the library daily. Book Inspectors open and check the contents of cassettes books (from the incoming mail delivery)to make sure each book is in good working order. Tapes are rewound and placed back it the cassette boxes. Problem books are sorted by problem. The setting includes tables set up with eleven rewound machines so groups of people can do this job as well as individuals. We ask for two to four hours each time and a six month commitment for individuals. Youth volunteers are welcome. Court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted.
