Support Group Facilitator

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteers needed to lead support group meetings for family caregivers and/or those with memory loss who are coping with affects of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Volunteers are provided ongoing technical assistance and support by the Chapter office, free training, written materials and reference manual. Groups meet usually once a month, for up to two hours at a time. Total volunteer time required 4 hours once a month.

All volunteers are required to complete and pass the Chapter's application process, which includes an interview with the Chapter representative, a Washington State Criminal Background check and be willing to make a one year commitment. A full day long mandatory training is offered three to four times a year- and continuing education opportunities for those who have little facilitation experience. All volunteers are asked to agree to chapter policies such as confidentiality and non-endorsement.
