We prepare and serve a nutritious meal followed by a video movie for 120 homeless people each Saturday during the year. Volunteers work from 9:30 am till about 1:00 pm, doing meal preparation, serving, and cleanup. Correct hygiene for meal preparation and serving for large groups of people is emphasized. Court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted. Youth volunteers are welcome. This is a service-learning opportunity. This program runs from September through May. We take a break June, July and August.
There will be on the job training under the supervision of experienced adult volunteers. The minimum age for this opportunity is 12 years old. This opportunity is sponsored by: Gethsemane Lutheran Church Soup And Movies

The church is located on the corner of 9th and Stewart in downtown Seattle, one block East of the Greyhound bus terminal. Please use the door on the East side of the building off the alley. Parking is free in the U-Park accross from the east side of the building. |
