Be a Young Hero

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 12, 2009

The Young Heroes program of City Year Seattle/King is looking for dedicated 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to be this year's group of Young Heroes. We hope you are up to the challenge! Young Heroes is a Saturday service learning program for middle school students throughout Seattle and King County. Young Heroes learn about important social issues in their community such as homelessness, discrimination, and the environment and then do transformative service to address these issues.
The middle school students, "Young Heroes" are placed on teams with 8-10 of their peers with an adult team leader and begin their service on the weekend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day - January 16, 2010 - and continue serving 3 Saturdays a month through the end of May. In addition there is an overnight Leadership Academy and fall service projects for those who would like to get involved early on. Have fun, meet new people, and help to make the world a better place!

All interested Young Heroes must complete a short application and a phone interview. This opportunity is for youth in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
