Volunteer Tax Preparers Needed
Program: The United Way of King County Free Tax Campaign will provide free tax preparation services at sites across
King
County from January 12 to April 15, 2010. Free tax sites will be located in Auburn, Bellevue, Beacon Hill, Seattle's Central District, Downtown Seattle, Federal Way, Kent, Lake City, Rainier Beach, Renton, Seatac, Shoreline and White Center. Taxes will be prepared by more than 550 trained and certified volunteers and electronically filed for a rapid refund. All tax preparers receive training and are IRS-certified, and each site is staffed by a Site Manager with tax expertise.
You can help! Volunteers commit to one 4-hour shift per week throughout the tax season, January 12- April 15, 2010. Volunteers are also required to complete a certification exam and training component (2 days for NEW volunteers) covering tax law and TaxWise software.
To Register:
1. Please select a site location and shift from the list below, and select 'Register'.
2. You can sort the site list by a variety of options. To view the address of a tax site, click on the site you are interested in.
3. Language needs are suggested for certain days, but if you do not speak that language we'd still love to have you join us!
Training: After you have registered for your tax site and shift, you will be asked to register for tax training! New volunteers must complete two days of training, while returning volunteers need to complete one day OR pass an online certification test. Information about training locations will be sent out separately at a later date. We will provide lunch and snacks. Don't worry, you will receive a reminder email packet with directions and contact information prior to your first training session. |
