ANNUAL EARTH DAY – THURSDAY, APRIL 20TH, 2006

Timberland announces a Request for Proposals for Community-Based Volunteer Projects

Proposed Earth Day Projects should address issues relating to Water Conservation and/or Water Quality

Applications Due:  Friday,  December 16th, 2005 (by end of business)

~Click on link below to apply online!~

The Timberland Company believes that individuals have the ability and responsibility to bring positive change to the communities in which they live and work.  We believe that doing well in the market place affords us an opportunity to do good in the community.

To provide our employees with an opportunity to live these values, Timberland initiated the Path of Service program in 1992 – a benefit that provides up to 40 hours of paid time off for employees to volunteer in their community during regularly scheduled work hours.

In order to better connect employees with opportunities to volunteer in their community, we seek proposals for projects addressing our 2006 service focus for Earth Day: Water Conservation and/or Water Quality.  All criteria are fully described online.  Please click on the link below to learn more and to propose your project.

Here’s how to apply:

·      Click here to enter Timberland web-based application site.

·         Click on “Grant by Invitation” from the menu of Community Investment options

·      You will need to click YES to 3 screening questions (Please note that these questions must be answered affirmatively in order for you to progress to the application site.  They are part of Timberland’s standard online system and cannot be de-activated.  They are used for US-based grant submissions and will not have any bearing on your application.)

·      Then, if you are a current Timberland grantee you will be prompted to provide your User ID and password.  Your INVITATION CODE is earthday. Type earthday in the box and login.

·      If you are a first-time Timberland partner, you will need to create your User ID and password by clicking on the note underneath COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS stating: First time user? Click here to create your password.  In order to register you will need to provide basic information about your organization.  The INVITATION CODE you need to enter is earthday.  If you are a US-based organization, you will be required to provide your Tax ID or School ID code to process.

·      You will then enter a WELCOME SCREEN.  This screen will provide you with Earth Day application steps and service criteria. After reviewing this information, scroll down to the bottom and click » Start a New Application «

·      Follow the prescribed steps thereafter and make sure to save and submit your application.  You will receive a Confirmation of Application Receipt statement when you submit.
