Legacy Leadership Institute™ Environmental Stewardship

A program that prepares experienced adults for leadership and professional roles with environmental nonprofits.

Are you looking for an opportunity to use your leadership, energy, talent and skills to meet the environmental challenges facing our region? Would you like to apply your professional skills and experience to new and meaningful projects in the nonprofit community?

The Legacy Leadership Institute on the Environment is a new program being launched this spring by Antioch's Center for Continuing Education and Leadership Tomorrow.

The Institute assists experienced, skillful and passionate adults transition into meaningful roles in the non-profit sector—specifically organizations and agencies devoted to environmental stewardship, advocacy and education.

Fifteen regional and local environmental organizations have signed on to participate in the Institute and host the graduates as they move into the hands-on practicum phase of the program.

Find Meaningful Work in the Second Half of Life

The Legacy Leadership Institute, sponsored by Antioch University Seattle and Leadership Tomorrow, matches retirees or working professionals who have flexible schedules with nonprofits which can benefit from their expertise. The Institute integrates classroom learning with onsite community service and ongoing mentoring.

As a participant, you:

• discover how to apply your experience in a nonprofit setting.

• learn from nonprofit and envrionmental experts in a fun and collaborative environment.

• apply your learning immediately in a professional role.

• explore the nonprofit sector as a second career opportunity.

• earn a certificate and 9 Continuing Education units.

Learn From Nonprofit and Environmental Experts

Learn from scientists, environmental faculty and nonprofit executives and gain skills directly from field experiences at participating enrionmental centers.

The Institute's core curriculum includes:

• Nonprofit Leadership and Management

• Community Outreach Skills and Strategies

• Environmental Issues

• Community Partner Site Visits and Supervised Internship in Environmental Community Outreach
