The Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration with the community, is a center for best practice, treatment, education and research, for individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance abuse disorders.
The Riverview Psychiatric Center provides daily medical, vocational, educational, recreational, psychiatric and psychosocial treatment. Our treatment is based on our belief in the process of recovery.

History:
The Augusta State Hospital/AMHI and now Riverview has been around since the 1850's. The hospital has evolved into a Recovery based hospital and serves the people of Maine. It is a 92 bed facility that serves Forensic and Civil clients with a severe and persistent mental health diagnosis.
