Founded in 1973, Day One's mission is to dramatically reduce substance abuse among Maine youth to help them live productive, healthy and rewarding lives.

Description:
We work towards our mission, which is to dramatically reduce substance abuse among Maine youth, through the following major programs: OUTPATIENT ADOLESCENT & FAMILY SERVICES - services offered include substance abuse evaluations, individual and group counseling, family counseling, home-based family counseling, intensive outpatient counseling, outreach for homeless youth, case management for youth; JUVENILE JUSTICE PROGRAMS - Day One provides substance abuse evaluations and a comprehensive array of treatment services at the Long Creek Youth Development Facility and Mountain View Youth Development Facility; RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER - a year-long treatment program offering an intensive therapeutic community for up to 12 male and female substance abusing young people (ages 16-24) from throughout Maine; in addition we also offer graduates of the Residential program an AFTERCARE program providing 18 months of assistance and support relating to recovery issues, housing, employment and meeting day-to-day challenges of their new lifestyles; PREVENTION SERVICES - Day One's prevention programs include the NATURAL HELPERS of Maine program, which trains a network of peer listeners in 12-20 Maine high schools each year. Additional PREVENTION programs include technical assistance to community groups working to address substance abuse issues.
