Become a skilled user of the FEMA web tool that connects donations (goods, services, equipment) with agencies supporting an impacted area. OPPORTUNITIES & TRAINING PROVIDED: •Opportunity to learn and be part of state level responses to Maine disasters •Opportunity to assist local agencies engaged in disaster response •Self-paced emergency management courses to be completed through the internet include: IS-700 (Introduction to NIMS), IS-100a (Introduction to Incident Command Systems), IS-244 (Developing and Managing Volunteers), IS-230 (Principles of Emergency Management •Organizational training to include orientation to Maine Emergency Management work, organization, network, relationships to local officials, and partnerships with other state agencies •Orientation to Maine Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and Maine 211 and the role of each organization in responding to emergencies. •Develop understanding of the Maine Emergency Response Plan and the Volunteer and Donations Management Annex •Develop aptitude at using AidMatrix and VolunteerMaine as well as develop ability to support new users of both systems during a response
HOURS OF SERVICE: 20 hours per month during implementation and training on this new system. Exact schedule is negotiable but will include business hour meetings with field staff who will use the system as part of training exercises. INITIAL SERVICE TERM: Two years, renewable. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: • Highly organized, reliable, quick thinking, detail oriented person who is calm under pressure • Clear communicator in speech and in writing • Evidence of ability to take initiative without disrespecting a chain of command • High School diploma or equivalent • Over 18 years of age (no upper age limit). Ideal opportunity for new retiree • Accessible by phone and email. • Flexibility to respond to large scale emergencies or disasters on short notice (within 12-18 hours of notification.) and on weekends or holidays, if required (rare) • Located within 25 miles of the State Emergency Operations Center in Augusta • Able to work successfully in somewhat stressful environment for extended hours • No history of criminal activity (background check will be done on potential candidates after initial screening interview) • Team player SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE AREAS: • Familiarity with the internet and how data platforms or program management tools usually work (behave) on the internet. • Intermediate computer skills with an emphasis on data management • Intermediate user of MS Professional suite • Strong customer service skills • Understanding of local or state government (preferred but not mandatory) ABILITIES: • Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients (as evidenced from past work experience). • Ability to learn new software programs or modules such as AidMatrix using minimal documentation • Ability to train and help others on a computer program • To concisely keep the Disaster Volunteer Management Team current on progress, problems and highpoints.
