Like to arrange Furniture and Make a Home?

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 2, 2009

We are looking for teams of 2-5 people who are willing to take a collection of new and donated items and make an apartment ready for a newly arrived family. Typically refugees arrive with very little and are given an apartment to begin their new lives. Refugee and Immigration Services maintains a warehouse of donated items with which to "decorate" these affordable apartments. With the heavy workload our case managers would really appreciate your help in setting up the new homes. With the talent of teams, you could probably bring some needed energy and creativity to the task. We welcome teams to bring additional items such as flowers, plants, paintings, calendars or whatever they would like. Typically the "home-building" happens on Tuesday afternoons.
This is a great team building for book groups, corporate groups, student groups with supervision or a family who is interested in community service.
Contact Tarlan Ahmadov at 871-7437 ext. 729 who will arrange the date for you or your group to help settle a new arrival.

Volunteers will have to provide their own transportation to the apartment or to the warehouse. They will not be working directly with the clients and will not have to have completed our application process.
