Downtown Merchants Of Blacksburg

The Downtown Merchants of Blacksburg (DMOB)is a non-profit alliance of independent business owners whose mission is to advance community and economic vitality within the town's central business district.

Description:
In the 20 years since its founding, DMOB has helped to preserve and enhance Blacksburg's historic town center. Downtown Merchants participated in founding the Blacksburg Farmers Market; contributed tens of thousands of dollars to restoring the Lyric Theatre; and helped to pay for lamps, pavers and park benches through the town. Nearly a third of DMOB's 80 members have been in business for decades, despite the challenge of big box retailers and the internet. The Downtown Merchants of Blacksburg are a living testimony to the value of buying local. Perhaps their greatest gift to the community has been Steppin' Out, Blacksburg's much-loved annual street fair -- after 27 years, it has become a community institution.
