Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.
United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Gathering Donated Suitcases
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
We are in need of donated suitcases, duffel bags, and hygiene bags for when children are removed from their parents. The hygiene bags are provided to teens when they enter foster care, and it would be helpful to have items such as hairbrushes, shampoo, fragrant soaps/lotions, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and facial soap/products. The suitcases and duffel bags may be gently used, they do not have to be new. Stores or individuals in the community may donate hygiene items to put a bag for teens in foster care.
