VT Engage Logo

Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Virginia Tech's The Big Event
RSS XML FeedBackground Active Feb 20, 2008 to Apr 5, 2008

The Big Event is Virginia Tech’s largest community service project.  It is one day where Virginia Tech students come together to say thanks to the surrounding communities in the New River Valley for being a gracious host to us for nine months out of the year and for their continuous support of the University.  On this day, more than 3,000 students will complete over 450 service projects ranging from painting to yard work to trash pickup for residents of the surrounding communities.  Through The Big Event, Student Government Association aims to strengthen the relationship between Virginia Tech and the communities we impact throughout the year.

All residents of the New River Valley are welcome to participate in the event which will be held on April 5, 2008.  Jobs should last about 3 to 4 hours and cannot require power tools.  Jobs in the past have ranged from painting to yard work to trash pickup.

If your organization has a project you would like to submit for help with during The Big Event, please click here: http://www.sga.vt.edu/bigevent/jobs/jobReg.php The deadline for job requests is March 14, 2008.

If you are an individual who would like to sign up to volunteer during The Big Event, please go to: https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.sga.vt.edu/bigevent/index.php The deadline for volunteer to sign up is March 21.
