Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community. United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group. Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register. Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register. VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896. If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Welcome to Volunteer Solutions |
This year, United Way is focused on ‘keeping our community strong”. Our community has experienced a tough six months, and many more tough months and years lie ahead. United Way and its community partners need to make sure the community support net – the agencies & services that strengthen families, mentor children, teach us, doctor the ill without health insurance, serve in disaster, shelter & feed people, and build hope – stay strong to keep our community as healthy as possible, despite what has happened.
Who are our community partners? You. All of you representing businesses, anyone who works, anyone who takes of children, anyone who cares about our community. Any of us who personally want to live in a healthy community that takes care of the human needs it has. Us – we are the community supporters. It really is up to US to keep the community support net strong – no one from outside our community is going to do it for us.
For ways to help, call 381-2066 and ask for Stephanie Graham or Kymn Davidson-Hamley. They'll put you in touch with one of United Way's dedicated volunteers who will show you how easy you and/or your business can make a big difference right here at home in the New River Valley.
