Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community. United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group. Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register. Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register. VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896. If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

It is easy to use! 1. Go to www.unitedwaynrv.org 2. Click on “Volunteer Solutions” 3. Click on “Volunteer Solutions Matching Database” 4. Login and Click on “Product Connections”. United Way’s Volunteer Solutions “Product Connections” Program Nonprofit organizations now have the ability to post their wish lists for items or items to donate with the On the Volunteer Solutions web page, you'll see a tab called "Product Connections". Just click it to begin the process! You can post a needed item, or view items that donors have made available. Note: In order to continue to receive email updates regarding available items, you must subscribe, by clicking "Email Alerts." Terms and Conditions: If you see an item needed by your agency or a client: 1. Please be sure that only agency staff members contact the donor, even if the donation is eventually goingto a client. 2. Do not contact the United Way about the donation, unless we are specifically listed as the donation contact. In most cases, you are being asked to contact the donor directly. 3. Donations are meant for agency and/or client use, and are not intended for the personal use of agency staff, unless agency staff qualify for assistance. Thanks.
4. Recipient agencies are responsible for supplying the donor with a thank you/receipt letter for tax purposes.
5. If you receive a donation through the system, let the United Way know by emailing info@unitedwaynrv.org
