The vision of the Nurturing Families Network is that every child will be raised within a nurturing environment
Description:
The Nurturing Families Program is a statewide program that assists parents- particularly high risk parents- with the challenges of parenthood. The program engages and supports parents before their first child is born through intensive home visiting, group-based parent education and information and support. The Nurturing Families Network serves more than 5,000 Connecticut families per year and is available to families giving birth in all of the state’s birthing hospitals.
History:
CHC was formed in 1972 by a group of volunteers who were passionate about helping low-income families and individuals. As result of that commitment, CHC now treats thousands of patients from over 100 communities in its 22 locations. Community Health Center is a private, non-profit agency providing primary health care and social services. Its quality health care services are available to all, and particularly to those who cannot gain access to such services elsewhere. The Community Health Center is committed to ensuring human rights and respecting human dignity; as such we strive to be a driving force for affordable, quality healthcare in our communities. The Children’s Trust Fund was created by the state of Connecticut General Assembly in 1983 to coordinate efforts and funding programs designed to prevent child abuse and neglect. This initiative was part of a national movement to establish such funds in all 50 states. The Trust Fund was established as a state agency in 1997. The Children’s Trust Fund prevents child abuse and neglect by supporting local efforts that help families and communities ensure the healthy growth and development of children. Since its inception the Trust Fund has developed or funded more than 200 family service program and initiatives statewide.
