It is the mission of the Child Guidance Clinic to develop capable children and families in the greater Meriden area. The Clinic will achieve this by providing prevention, intervention and educational services based upon sound principles of mental health.
Description:
The Clinical Program provides a continuum of comprehensive mental and behavioral health evaluation, treatment and outreach services to children, youth, and families from Meriden, Wallingford, and Southington. In addition, there is consultation and education to community and statewide agencies, organizations, and groups. The clinical program has a staff of experienced therapists, counselors and consultants, licensed or certified in their professions. Home - based services are an integral part of the Clinic program, as is the provision of consultation to child care centers as a way of preventing early exclusion of difficult to manage children. The Clinical Program is licensed by the Department of Children and Services; and its substance abuse treatment program is licensed by the Department of Health.
History:
The Child Guidance Clinic is in its 49th year of operation, has grown to a staff of 28, and occupies space in two separte city locations. It's various funding sources include the United Way, State of Connecticut, private foundations, and fees for some services. The Clinic has a committment to serving that population of children and families who cannot afford private care.
